What the term covers

Four things get called negative SEO, and they run differently.

Link-based campaigns. Large volumes of automated links pointed at a target so the profile reads as manipulative. This is what almost everyone means, it is the cheapest to run, and it is what our bulk products deliver.

Content duplication. Scraping a target and republishing at scale so the original competes with copies. Slower to arrange and it carries copyright exposure the other tactics do not.

Link removal. Approaching a target’s publishers to strip existing links. Manual, slow, and dependent on publishers not verifying who is asking.

Reputation pressure. Reviews and coverage rather than links. A different discipline from search manipulation, and regulated directly in several markets.

What decides whether a campaign lands

Target selection, almost entirely. The execution is commodity; the read on the target is where the skill sits.

Profile depth. A site with fifty referring domains built over eighteen months and one with five thousand built over ten years are different propositions. In the first case new volume is a large proportion of everything the target has.

Diversity. A target whose links are almost all bought and almost all one type is fragile, because incoming volume is hard to tell apart from what is already there. A varied profile is a harder read.

Existing trouble. A target already carrying a manual action is operating with less margin, and that is where campaigns land most often.

Indexing. The step most self-run campaigns get wrong. A link that is never crawled does not count, and a large share of automated links never index on their own. Indexing is included in our bulk tiers because a campaign without it is volume you paid for and nobody saw.
